Our Teacher Prep student, Isabella Barkholz, was selected as the January Professional Student of the Month. Bella was born to be a teacher. She has amazing instincts when working with children, especially students with behavior issues. Earlier this year she helped a kindergartener who was angry and refused to work. Bella noticed he was wearing a Superman T-shirt and instinctively asked him what kind of superpowers he had. Through this quick thinking, she was able to engage him, make him feel noticed and get him to complete his work.
Everyday Bella greets everyone she meets with a huge smile and a genuine interest in seeing how they are. Bella is also a fantastic listener and often helps other cadets with their personal problems. She has a way of reflecting someone's concerns to make them feel heard and understood.
Bella is always eager to learn during lessons. She works to apply the concepts covered in class into her host room. She continually makes connections and takes the topics deeper.
Bella's host teachers continually tell me what a dramatic difference she makes in their rooms. Bella jumps in to help, knows how to read the room, and genuinely cares about each student.
