Big Foot Bash - The Oscoda AuSable Chamber of Commerce's Big Food Bash happens Friday & Saturday, September 29th & 30th. On Saturday:

  • 10:00am-5:00pm -- Main Event at Shoreline Theatre, 6000 North Skeel Avenue, Oscoda. Guest Speakers: Matt Moneymaker; Cliff Barackman; and Dr. Jeff Meldrum. Plus Craft Ventors, free Family Zone, and Bigfoot chainsaw Carving Raffle.

Black Bear Festival - The Curran Black Bear Festival takes place Saturday, September 30th in Curran:

  • 9:00am-4:00pm: Craft Show & Car Show
  • 1:00pm: Parade
  • 2:00pm: Kids games, activities and bounce slide; cake walk; snacks, 50/50 raffle and door prizes
  • 4:00pm: Car Show presentations and raffle drawings

 

Family Fun Day - The Hale PTO is hosting a Family Fun Day at the Eagle Point Plaza Track, 415 East Main Street in Hale on Saturday, September 30th from 1:00-4:00pm. Bubble Walk at 1:00pm $25 includes gate fee, t-shirt and game tickets, bounce houses, magic show, DJ, games, vendors, food and more. Gate fee $10, four and under free. Game tickets 6 for $5. All funds raised go to teacher classrooms and fun events for students.

 

Dinner Raffle - The Rose City Lions Club hosts their 35th Annual Dinner Raffle on Saturday, September 30th at Rose Township Hall, 3380 Lupton Road in Lupton. Doors open at 6:30pm. Dinner at 7:00pm. Grand Prize is $3,000. If all tickets are not sold, the grand prize will be reduced accordingly. Cost is $60.00 per couple and includes dinner for 2. BYOB. Your support helps the community with eyeglasses, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Paws with a Cause, Lions International Sight First, Girl Scouts, and many local community projects. Hale Alumni Flag Football - Register by October 4th. The Hale Alumni Flag Football Game will be held Friday, October 6th at 7:00pm. The Homecoming Parade will be held and the King & Queen will be crowned at the event. Alumni who wish to play can register at apzr.co/PYI by Wednesday, October 4th. Frozen Fear - The Tawas Bay Ice Arena presents "Frozen Fear" every Friday and Saturday in October from 7:00-11:00pm. Cost is $10 for 12 and up, 11 and under only $5. No scare options available. Proceeds Suport Huron Hockey & Skating Association. Like them on Facebook.

 

Fish Fry - American Legion Post #162 will host a Fish Fry at the Post, 3590 Legion Drive in Luzerne on Friday, October 6th from 4:00-7:00pm. Two and three piece cod and seven piece shrimp dinners with potato and coleslaw. All are welcome. For more information call 989-826-5950

 

Arts & Crafts Show - The Oscoda Lions Club 22nd Annual Fall Arts & Crafts Show will be held Saturday, October 7th from 10:00am until 4:00pm at Oscoda High School on River Road in Oscoda. Hand crafted items including jewelry, clothing, baked goods, word working, painting, photography, and more. Adults are a $1 donation, children free and lunch is available for purchase. Join a ranger for a stroll through northern Michigan's beautiful fall colors and learn a bit about the science of color change. All Programs are at Lumberman's Monument and are free of charge. Donations are accepted in the Visitor Center to help cover expenses. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Programs are subject to change. For additional information or to register call Lumberman's Monument Visitor Center at 989-362-8961. Located in Iosco County at the junction of Monument Road and River Road.

Oscoda Senior Center - Visit the Oscoda Senior Center located at 653 State Street SW in Oscoda. Cancer Support - Friends Together, the cancer support agency serving all of northeast Michigan is holidng a support group Tuesdays at 5:30pm at Rushman Hall on Newman Street in East Tawas. Anyone who has been touched by cancer, or if you have a family member with a cancer diagnosis, you are welcome to the weekly support group. All Friends Together programs and services are free. Food Pantry - If you or someone you know is in need of food, there is a free food pantry available at the United Methodist Church in Oscoda. The Pantry is located by the entry doors nearest to the church parsonage. The Pantry is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Pantry is refilled by community donations. All items are free to those who need them.

 

Baby Needs - If you or someone you know is in need of free supplies for babies or toddlers, such as diapers, pull-ups, wipes, or rash cream, these are avaiable through Iosco County MDHHS. AuSable Farm Market - The Northeast Michigan Reginal Farm Market is held every Wednesday from 8:00 - 1:00pm at AuSable Taownship Hall on U.S. 23 from May 10th through October 25. For more information call 989-909-3193.
