The Lumberman’s Monument- will host Kid’s Day with Smokey Bear Friday, August 7th at 1pm, at the Visitor’s Center at Monument and River Roads, Oscoda. Celebrate Smokey Bear’s 82nd Birthday with fun activities, meet wildland firefighters and foresters while learning about fire prevention. For more information call 989-362-8961.
The Friends of the Tawas Point Lighthouse- will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Lighthouse and National Lighthouse Day at Tawas Point State Park in East Tawas:
Friday, August 7th Noon-5pm. Free Lighthouse Tours; 2pm: Games, Craft making, story time and snacks. 3pm: US Coast Guard Station demonstration with helicopter flyover. Weather permitting

The Tawas Masonic Lodge- will be selling Beef Pasties with Gravy beginning at 10am until gone at the Lodge on U.S. 23 across from Freel’s Market in Tawas City. Saturday-August-8th.
The Tawas Bay Art Gallery- will hold a “Bugs & Butterflies” Rock Painting Class Saturday, August 8th, 10am-Noon at the Tawas Point Lighthouse Pavilion with instructor Colleen Sheffer. The Northeast Michigan Rocket Association- Model Rocket Launch will be held Saturday, August 8th, 9am, at the Oscoda High School Baseball Fields on River Road. The Tawas City Library Friends Used Book Sale- will be held Saturday, August 8th, 9am-Noon, at the Library, 208 North Street, Tawas City. You pick the book, you pick the price. All proceeds support the Tawas City Library and it’s programs. Rain date will be Saturday, August 15th.
The 35th Annual Victorian Art Fair- will be held at Irons Park in West Branch:

Tawas Wellness- will host the nature program “Busy Butterflies” for toddlers and their parents Sunday, August 9th, 3-5pm, at the Collective, 821 Newman Street, East Tawas. A playful afternoon of nature, creativity and connection for you and your little one!
The Tawas Bay Art Gallery- will hold the class “Carve, Ink, Create” Learn the LinoCarve print making process Monday, August 10th Noon-3pm with instructor Rickie Willenspahr at the Gallery 302 Newman Street, East Tawas. Design your own carving, ink it up and take home the finished piece. Cost is $75 and all materials are provided. Registration and pre-payment required by calling the Gallery at 989-362-5613.

The Iosco County Firefighters Sunrise Side Country Music Show- will be held Friday, August 14th, 7pm, at the East Tawas Community Center on Newman Street in East Tawas. This year’s show features Kathy Baillie and her band Baillie & The Boys. Tickets $25, $40 for a couple and $50 for the whole family. Proceeds benefit the Iosco County Firefighters. The Friends of the Tawas Point Lighthouse- invite everyone to “Tuesdays at the Lighthouse” free tours every Tuesday from Noon-4pm, at the lighthouse at Tawas Point State Park. Admission free, but donations accepted. A Recreation Passport is required for park entry.
