Our Heritage Monthly Lecture Series - Iosco County Historical Society Presents a monthly lecture featuring Lugene Danies.  All programs are at 6:30pm at the Iosco County Historical Museum, 405 W. Bay St., in East Tawas.  They will take place every third Wednesday, starting April 18th, with "Women of the Lights", May 16th, "Amazing Great Lakes & Islands", June 20th, "Rum Runners in MI", July 18th, "Saginaw Chippewa Tribal History", August 15th, "The Hello Girls",  and the final lecture will be September 19th, "Alabaster Rock In Our Midst". Each lecture will talk about the amazing history of our area and in the State of Michigan.


The Odd Couple - The Thunder Bay Theatre presents "The Odd Couple" starting April 6th and runs thru April 22nd.  Times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2pm.  For more info on this show or any of the other fine shows please call the theatre

Focus On Life -  Iosco County Right To Life will be holding their Annuan Benefit Dinner, Thursday, April 26th at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 821 Newman St., East Tawas.  Reservations are $18 Individual, and $108 for a table of 6.  Doors open at 6pm, with Dinner & Program starting at 6:30pm.  Special Guest Speakers are Tim & Cindy Donovan.  For more info please call Larry Zucal at (989)747-0363.

Dueling Pianos - Holy Family School PTO presents "Dueling Pianos" by Midwes Dueling Pianos, Friday, April 20th  with Dinner at 6pm and the show starting from 7pm to 10pm, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 821 Newman St., East Tawas.  Cost is $30 including dinner and there will be a cash bar.  Ticket are available at Holy Family School, Visions Hair Salon, and Chick'n Dots. Iosco Conservation District - Tree Sale will be held Friday, April 27th, and Saturday, April 28th, from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, April 29th from 10am to 3pm.  You may order seedlings, transplants, shrubs, small fruit plants, and fruit trees.  A limited supply of excess trees will be available on site on the days of the sale.  Orders are due by Monday, April 2nd, and pick up is at the Tawas Inn, 1124 S. Extreme Duct Tape Workshop - The Iosco-Arenac District Library will hold an Adult Program, Friday, April 20th at 10am, at the Robert J. Parks Library, 6010 N. Skeel Ave., Oscoda.  The Program "Extreme Duct Tape Workshop" will have participants making amazing creations out of duct tape.  There are hundreds of rolls of duct tape to choose from!  Fun free program for Adults with refreshments served.  For more info please call the library at (989)739-9581.


Art Walk & Wine Tasting - Downtown West Branch is participating with local artists for the perfect spring evening, Saturday, April 21st from 5pm to 9pm.  Each shop will host an area artist and their works, along with wine and hors d' oeuvres.  For more info check out


Spring into Country - The 3rd Annual "Spring Into Country" music show will be held April 21st, at the Edwards Town Hall, 3601 Wickes Rd., West Branch.  There are 2 shows starting at 2pm and 6pm. Big Game - Iosoc County Firefighters All-Stars will host their 25th Annual "Big Game" against the Detroit Lions Legends.  The "Big Game" will take place at the Tawas Area High School, Friday, April 27th at 7pm.  The "Big Game" is the annual basketball game played to raise funds for the Iosco County Firefighters Association.  The highlight of the fun filled night is the half time autograph session with the Lions signing autographs and taking pictures all for free.  Tickets are $18 in advance adn $23 at the door.  A special family ticket for Mom, Dad and the kids is $45.  For tickets and information call (800)205-7174.


Alcona Conservation District - The 2018 Spring Tree Sale will be held Saturday, April 28th from 9am to 1pm, at the ARA Site (fairgrounds), 854 N. Barlow Rd., Lincoln (across from Kris Mart).  Pre-sale deadline is April 6th.  Please go to for the pre-sale form.

Gourmet Delights - Quota International will be hosting "Gourmet Delights" a wonderful event that showcases local Tawas area restaurants, caterers, and speciality treat shops.  It will be held at the East Tawas Community Center on Newman,  Sunday, May 6th from 11am until 2pm.  Attendees are welcome to sample all of the offerings and meet representatives from each business to learn more about them.


Morel Mushroom Festival - Lewiston Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2018 Lewiston Morel Mushroom Festival, Saturday, May 12th, from 9am to 4pm in Downtown Lewiston.  Come and enjoy breakfast to start your day, there will be guided hunts and mushroom tasting.  There is a 5k race, arts and craft show in the park. Tawas Point Migration 2018 - Ausable Valley Audubon will host "Tawas Point Migration", Thursday, May 17th through Saturday, May 19th.  A large assortment of evening and daytime guided field trips at East Tawas State Park, Tuttle Marsh, Loon Lake Nature Park, Hale and Huron National Forest.  Excellent speakers, two live birds of prey shows, kids activities and more.  To register visit


Wurtsmith Air Museum - Museum will be opening Saturday, May 19th and May 20th for "Armed Forces Day" from 11am to 3pm.  Free admission for this weekend only.  "25th Anniversary of the Wurtsmith Air Force Base Closure" will take place June 22nd thru June 24th to honor WAFB veterans with reunions, and special events. Ride For RugRats - Fundraiser to support "Helping 2 Overcome", Saturday, June 2nd starting and finishing at Twisted Twinz Emporium, 1131 W. Lake St., Tawas City, next to the Tawas Moose Lodge.  The fun starts with Sign In at 10am, Kick Stands up at Noon with a 4pm return.  The fun continues with Dinner starting at 4:30pm, and Auction at 5:30pm.  Then the fun kicks up a notch with the music of "Hipakritz" from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.  $15 includes the Ride, Dinner, and Entertainment or $10 for Dinner and Entertainment. The Dinner and Entertainment will take place at the Tawas Moose Lounge where there will also be a Cash Bar.


Sunrise Solstice Art and Music Festival - The Festival will be held Saturday, June 16th from 6am to 11pm, at the Shoreline Park in Tawas City.  There will be an art competition, with artist registering online and then get their canvas stamped on the morning of the 16th.  They may then go and paint anywhere in the Tawas area, and return their completed work by 5pm for voting by the festival goers. First place earns $500.00, Second place is $300.00, and Third place is $200.00.  There will also be live bands at the Towne Square in the afternoon until 9pm.  Many more activities to come, so please keep an eye on their web site at  Proceeds to benefit Tawas Area High School fine arts (visual and musical) and student athletes.  All applications can be found on the web site.


Arts And Crafts - 26th Annual Memorial Day Arts & Crafts will be held Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27th at the Shoreline Park in Tawas City.  Saturday hours are from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. So don't miss this wonderful collection of over 100 booths of crafters, and food.  You are sure to find something perfect for your home, yard and more.


Breeze On Tawas Bay - Come and enjoy kite flying for all ages, Saturday, June 2nd from 10am to 6pm on beautiful Tawas Bay.  This is a free fun filled day of kite flying for the young and old alike. Tawas Point Celebration Days - With many activities for the family to enjoy, starting Saturday, June 11th, from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday, June 12th, from 10am to 4pm. So come and enjoy the activities from historical and educational displays, lighthouse tours (cost is $2), demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, and wood carving.  There will be children's activities, fishing derby, guided hikes, traditional music, and even period encampments with period dress.  For more info please contact the park at (989)362-5041.

Music Fest 2018 - The festival will be at the Oscoda Veterans Memorial Park on the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Friday, June 22nd and Saturday, June 23rd.  Admission is $10 per day with the entertainment to start about 7pm both nights.  Proceeds to benefit ongoing development of the Veterans Memorial Park.  You don't want to miss the acts that include "The Bombshell Duo" performing the spirit and style from the '40s, Mike Suggs, and Jeff Carr performing Toby Keith, and Willie Nelson, on Friday night.  "The Soul Men" with their outstanding Blues Brothers Tribute, and "The Paradise Band" performing Oldies, Rock, Motown to Country and everything in between, on Saturday night.  For more info call Joe Brinn at (989) 906-2155 or Rose Mary Nentwig at (989)820-8747.

Dueling Pianos is Coming To Town!

Holy Family School PTO Presents Dueling Pianos!  Join us on April 20th at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 821 Newmand Street, East Tawas Michigan.  Dinner will be at 6:00pm and Dueling Pianos from 7:00pm - 10:00pm.  Cash Bar is available as well.  Tickets are $30.00 per person which includes dinner.  Tickets are available at Holy Family School.  989-362-5651.  Proceeds will benefit the Holy Family PTO.



Dean Arbour Drive 4UR School - April 28th

Dean Arbour Ford has announced that the "Drive 4UR School"  event will be held on April 28th.  The Fundraiser is for the Tawas Area High School Senior Class "Project Graduation".  Once again the fundraiser "Drive 4UR School will be held on April 28th from 10am-2pm at the Tawas Area High School on M-55.  Come on out and test drive a new Ford Vehicle!  For every test drive the Ford Motor Company will donate $20.00 towards Project Graduation!



Women of the Michigan Lights

The Iosco County Historical Society Lugene Daniels Lecture Series begins on Wednesday, April 18th, with "Women of the Michigan Lights", a presentation by Jane Chandler, a retired teacher and president of the Friends of Tawas Point lIghthouse and State Park.  Fascinating stories of female lighthouse keepers as told by Patricia Majher in her book "Ladies of the Light.  The program takes place at the museum, 405 W. Bay, East Tawas at 6:30p!
