Brush By The Bay -  The Tawas Bay Art Gallery will be hosting Brush By the Bay every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the gallery on Newman St starting Sept. 14th thru Dec. 7th. Ladies Night - Hale Hardware presents their 2nd Annual Ladies Night, Thursday, September 28th, from 6pm to 8pm.  Pre-register in store or on-line to be entered in a special drawing.  Check out their Face Book page for updates.

 

Iosco 4H Junior Market Livestock Association - Hog Roast Fundraiser, Sunday, October 1st at the Plainfield Township Hall in Hale. Dinner served from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Suggested donation $10.00 for adults and $5.00 Children (10 and under).

 

Tribute to the Stars - The American Legion Post of Oscoda will host an evening of music October 4th, featuring Ron Short as Elvis, Neil Diamond, and Roy Orbison. Cost is $15 per person, dinner starts at 6pm with the show following at 7pm.  All proceeds to benefit Oscoda Veterans Memorial Park.  Limited seating to purchase tickets please contact Joe Brinn at (989)906-2155.

6th Annual Haunted Halloween Weekend - The Harrisville State Park will hold it's annual Haunted Halloween Weekend October, 13th thru the 15th.  Weekend activities include children's games, site decorating contest and trick-or-treating for campground guests, a haunted hayride and spooky haunted trail.  Fun for all ages.  Please contact Eric Ostrander at (989)724-5126 for more information.

 

Showcase Iosco -  Saturday, October 14th from 11:00am to 3:00pm, at the Tawas Area High School Gym.  Admission is free and open to the public.  This is a community and business expo, with Exhibitors from area businesses, organizations, and other groups that support Iosco County's economic success and cultural amenities.

Thunder Bay Arts Council - Smoke & Music will be presented by the Thunder Bay Arts Council, Saturday, October, 21st with a BBQ dinner from 6pm to 7pm, with music from 7pm to 9:30pm.  Cost $12 for dinner ticket and event ticket. Halloween Party - Wiltse's Brew Pub & Restaurant will be hosting a "Wizard Of Oz" themed party, for kids, Saturday, October 28th from 5pm to 6:30pm.  Food, prizes, music, and games. Followed by an Adult Halloween Party with the same "Wizard Of Oz" theme, with great beer, taste drinks, music, dancing,and prizes for best costume.

 

Fall Harvest Block Party - Oscoda-AuSable Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Fall Harvest Block Party on Dwight St., Saturday, October 28th from 10:00am to 6:00pm. For more info check out www.oscodachamber.com.

 

Northeast Michigan Regional Farm Market - 3rd week in May to the last week in October.  In Tawas at Gateway Park on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.  Oscoda/AuSable at the AuSable Shoreline Park on Wednesdays from 9am to 2pm.

 

American Legion Post #370 - The Post hosts a dinner every Friday from 5pm to 8pm at the post at 805 East Greenwood Rd., in Prescott.  Cost is $9.00 per person.  For more info please call (989)836-2660.

 

Huron-Manistee National Forest Heritage Program - Every Thursday June 22nd thru Sept. 7th, from 10am to 2pm.  Forest Archeologist and Heritage Volunteers will be on hand demonstrating archeological methods through excavation of the "Old Store".  Registration is required as there is a limited space of 25 participants at each dig.  Register in person at Lumberman's Monument or call (989)362-8961.

 

Knights of Columbus in East Tawas - Invites everyone to Bingo each Sunday night.  Doors open at 5:30, Bingo starts at 6:30 everyone is welcome.

 

Kiwanis Club of Alpena and Alpena Booster's Club - Are sponsoring the "FLAG PROJECT", and they are looking for help.  The goal is to honor fallen veterans with the "Heroes Avenue of Flags" which will line the Alpena Bi-Path from the Evergreen Cemetery to 11th Avenue.  Each flag will be marked with a memorial plaque.  The flags will be placed 5 times a year.  Cost is just $50 a year.  To make a donation to honor a fallen soldier, or for more info call Judy at 989-354-3543

 

Please Drop Off - Miner's Grove at the corner of Miller & Wilber roads is collecting soda can tabs.  Proceeds benefit the Shiners' Hospital.  The tab is the only pure aluminum part of the can....the can it's self can be returned for your deposit.  But please remove the tab, and help children through the Shiners' Hospital.

 

AuSable River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution - The chapter is selling U.S. made flags to raise funds for their projects supporting schools, historical preservation and patriotism.  U.S. flags, state flags and military service flags in all sizes are available.  For info or to order please call 989-362-2337
