Fourth of July Events Schedule


Date:  July 6, 2013 at Dusk

Where: At the Mouth of the Au Gres River E. Huron Road
Admission: Free

Event Details:Au Gres Christian Charities Annual BBQ Chicken Dinner at Au Gres City Pavilion, N Main Street 1-6 PM.  All proceeds goes towards Au Gres food bank.




Date:  July 4, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Mich-e-ke-wis Park on State St
Admission: Free

Event Details:The Lafarge 4th of July Parade starts at 11AM at the Alpena County Fairgrounds.  Fireworks are launched near the City of Alpena’s Water Treatment Plant, and can viewed from the Starlite Beach, Mich-e-ke-wis Park, Blair Street Park, Thomson Park, Bay View Park, City Marina as well as other locations in the City of Alpena.



Barton City:

Date:  July 4, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Barton City - Jewell Lake
Admission: Free

Event Details:Barton City's Biggest Little 4th in the North includes a parade at 11 a.m.  with line up at 10 a.m., dunk tank, inflatables, kids' races at 1 p.m. a beer tent, a variety of food booths and other vendors, a sawdust pile and grease pole at 2 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. BBQ dinner, beer tent, horseshoes, children’s games, a parade and of course, fireworks on the 4th! They don’t call it the Biggest Little Fourth in the North for nothing!

Where: Glennie - at the school at 4932 Bamfield Road 

Admission: Free
Event Details:Celebrations starts at 9 a.m. at the ball park with carnival games, a craft show and food vendors. The parade through dowtown Glennie will be held at 2 p.m. Activities start at 11AM at Warren Mervyn Field. Live music, food booths, quilt show, craft show, strawberry shortcake, carnival games. Parade at 2:00 p.m. Fireworks at dusk.

Where: Harrisville Harbor (20 miles south of Alpena)
Admission: Free

Event Details: Harrisville Lions Duck Race will begin at 4p.m. The ducks are released at the Harrisville Mill Pond and will race to Harrisville Harbor. Race tickets can be purchased from any Lions member or at various locations in Harrisville. Children’s Sidewalk Art Contest – sign up 9am at Huron Community Bank. Judging at Noon for cash prizes. Children’s Parade through downtown at 1 p.m. Children ride their bikes, dress up and show their pets in patriotic style. Line up at 12:45 p.m. behind Richard’s Pharmacy. Music prior to the fireworks at dusk at the Harrisville Harbor. Craft Show at the Craftmakers’ Cabin, Harrisville..

Event Details:Festival lasts July 5 through July 7, 2013 and includes Community Celebration, Bridge Walk, Games, Drag Races, Fireworks, Music at the Mill, Pig Roast and more!  This event was formerly listed here as the Hillman Mill River Days.




Oscoda County Fireworks

Event Details:
6 p.m. – Picnic, Kids’ Games, Sandcastle Building

Fourth of July events in Oscoda include a parade through downtown at 1pm. Parade route will be on US-23 from Cedar Lake to Mill Street. Line up for parade participants is noon at Cedar Lake Elementary. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade.
7 p.m. – Concert at the Oscoda Bandshell, and a fireworks display at dusk located at Shoreline Park (at the mouth of the Au Sable river)
Oscoda Lions & Oscoda Rotary will be selling hotdogs, chips, ice cream & soft drinks


Port Huron:

Date:  July 21, 2013 at Dusk  BLUE WATER FESTIVAL

Where: Desmond Landing / Vantage Point at 51 Water Street  
Admission: Fireworks are free; some events and activities may have a fee

Event Details:The festival runs from July 17-21, 2013, and combines a magnificent display of boats with a fabulous festival of music, food and fun on the river and the traditional  Rotary’s International Day Parade!! There will also be a carnival, and fireworks on Sunday night.



Rogers City:

Date:  July 6, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Lakeside Park 

Admission: Free
Event Details Family Fun Day begins at noon, with children’s games, music, fish dinner and fireworks. Band concert at 7pm.




Date:  July 4, 2013 at 10:15pm

Where: Roscommon Fire Training Grounds  at 290 Ballenger Road 

Admission: Free
Event Details: Events usually include a 5k Run/Walk at 9am, ice cream social at noon, parade at 1pm and a cookout at 6pm, with kid’s games too!



Rose City:

Date:  July 4, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Houghton Creek Park (would appreciate a better address)

Admission: Free
Event Details:In addition to fireworks, Rose City typically hosts a 4th of July parade at 4pm, Kids Derby Fishing, and more!


St. Helen:

Date:  July 6, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Airport Runway on Airport Road
Admission: Free

Event Details:Choreographed to music, you won’t want to miss this 30-minute spectacular display of fireworks, special effects and music!!



Tawas City:

Date:  July 4, 2013 at Dusk

Where: Tawas City Park on W Lake St 

Admission: Free
Event Details:Celebrate Independence Day with a concert by the US Air Force Reserves Band and the annual fireworks spectacular!



West Branch:

Where: M-30
Admission: Free
Event Details: Fourth of July parade at 1pm; many other events in the area, including a fishing derby, sidewalk sales and more – check the website for all the dates and details! The parade will begin on S. Valley St. at 1pm and will travel down Houghton Ave. until 8th St.  The 28 Annual 4th of July Parade, this years parade theme is “175 Years of Michigan
