My name is Betty Klug and I am looking for high school students to participate in a research program that I am conducting for my PhD dissertation at Capella University. The purpose of the research is to examine the significance of including an orientation program before using a virtual world as a classroom for learners with Dyslexia or AD/HD. The classes are held in a virtual world, which offers a safe, flexible environment. Students should be self-reported AD/HD, or Dyslexic. The participation of a total of 20-40 hours is required by the student, which will consist of about 2-3 weeks, 5 days a week for 2-2.5 hours a day attending class or doing activities online in the virtual world. The age requirement for participants is 13 to 20 years old. Students must have access to a computer with high-speed internet. The students do not need to be in school at this time but they must not have received a High School diploma and not have completed high school biology if you are interested in participating in this study or would like more information, please contact me on Facebook (Betty Klug), call 989-728-6490 or email me at mklug2@capellauniversity.edu

Join Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary's Research Coordinator, John Bright, for a presentation on recent shipwreck discoveries in Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. In May of 2017, researchers from the sanctuary and the University of Delaware, located two new shipwreck sites in 300 feet of water off the coast of Presque Isle. Throughout the summer, the sanctuary investigated and documented both sites with an array of underwater survey tools, including ROVs and autonomous vehicles. Referencing the data they collected with historical records of vessel lost in this area, both vessels were identified. One was the steel bulk carrier Choctaw, which sank due to collision in 1915. The second vessel was wooden bulk carrier Ohio. Join John at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center for a 'deep dive' into this research and discovery. *This is a free event and open to all ages. Event will take place in the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center theater.*
