From 12:00AM to 12:00AM

My name is Betty Klug and I am looking for high school students to participate in a research program that I am conducting for my PhD dissertation at Capella University. The purpose of the research is to examine the significance of including an orientation program before using a virtual world as a classroom for learners with Dyslexia or AD/HD. The classes are held in a virtual world, which offers a safe, flexible environment. Students should be self-reported AD/HD, or Dyslexic. The participation of a total of 20-40 hours is required by the student, which will consist of about 2-3 weeks, 5 days a week for 2-2.5 hours a day attending class or doing activities online in the virtual world. The age requirement for participants is 13 to 20 years old. Students must have access to a computer with high-speed internet. The students do not need to be in school at this time but they must not have received a High School diploma and not have completed high school biology if you are interested in participating in this study or would like more information, please contact me on Facebook (Betty Klug), call 989-728-6490 or email me at mklug2@capellauniversity.edu

You will learn about the effects of native as well as non-native, invasive pests and pathogens that affect trees, and discuss why sometimes treatment is recommended and other times it is not. The talk will also highlight steps to take to be proactive in maintaining tree health against oak wilt and forest pests not yet established in Michigan, as well as cover any questions from participants. We’ll also share tips and tricks for tree identification and tree care basics. Bring your walking shoes, questions and curiosity for what is sure to be an interesting and informative discussion. The location selected for this session is the diverse forests at the Cole Canoe Base in Alger Michigan. The location will be at the Cole Canoe Base, 1356 E Greenwood Road. East of M 33. Enter at the main entrance and follow the Master Gardener Signs to the parking lot. The walk will begin at 10 am and be about 1.5 hours.
