Saganing Traditional Pow Wow

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s “Honoring Saganing Traditional Pow Wow” will be held:

 

Saturday, June 25th 11am-Dusk

Sunday, June 26th 11am-Dusk

 

Grand Entry at 1pm each day at the Pow Wow Reservation Grounds, next to Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel on Worth Road in Standish. Native traders and food vendors and rustic camping available. Daily entry $3, weekend pass $5, kids $1.

The Sound of Music

From 7:00PM to 9:00PM

This June, performers and musical theater professionals from around the country will come together to perform The Sound of Music with the Huron Forest Camp CedarRidge Performing Arts Company. They will be accompanied by the Michigan Sinfonietta, an orchestra comprised of professional musicians from Detroit, Ann Arbor and Saginaw. Auditions were held in seven cities throughout the country and cast members, ages 7-18 were selected. Professional guest artist Jessica Burrows (winner of the New York Music Theater Festival’s 2012 Outstanding Individual Performance) will be playing the role of Maria. Other guest artists, Benjamin Neumayer and Jessica French join the cast as the roles of Captain von Trapp and Mother Abbess. Thomas Holt Kirkindoll, a director and choreographer from New Orleans and Jessica French, a professional opera singer and vocal coach based in New York City, will direct with Joshua Feldpausch of Houston as Musical Director. Stephanie Robitaille, a dancer with The Walt Disney Company currently performing with Beauty and the Beast at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, will lend her talents as lead choreographer. Devon Roberts, a lighting and sound designer from Nashville, Tenn. will complete the production team to bring this show to life on the Oscoda stage. The Sound of Music will hold two performances on the Oscoda High School stage on June 28 and 29 at 7 p.m..
